In the below clip, Peter Sprigg and Bryan Fischer distort the example of a bisexual woman who wrote "I choose to be gay" in a blog post. Which is their victorious proof that millions and millions of people are collaborating in the lie that they are born gay. And even though Sprigg allows that people are "born with same-sex attraction," both he and Fischer have previously advocated for the criminalization of homosexuality. They are NOT hate groups! They just want you imprisoned, tortured, brainwashed, or dead.

After years of harsh conflict between advocates for gay students and Christian conservatives, the issue was already highly charged here. Then in July, six students brought a lawsuit contending that school officials have failed to stop relentless antigay bullying and that a district policy requiring teachers to remain “neutral” on issues of sexual orientation has fostered oppressive silence and a corrosive stigma. Also this summer, parents and students here learned that the federal Department of Justice was deep into a civil rights investigation into complaints about unchecked harassment of gay students in the district. The inquiry is still under way.
Through it all, conservative Christian groups have demanded that the schools avoid any descriptions of homosexuality or same-sex marriage as normal, warning against any surrender to what they say is the “homosexual agenda” of recruiting youngsters to an “unhealthy and abnormal lifestyle.”
Adding an extra incendiary element, the school district has suffered eight student suicides in the last two years, leading state officials to declare a “suicide contagion.” Whether antigay bullying contributed to any of these deaths is sharply disputed; some friends and teachers say four of the students were struggling with issues of sexual identity.

Via JMG: BRAZIL: Anti-Gay Televangelist Charged With Embezzling $300M From Followers
A major religious scandal is exploding in Brazil after one of the nation's best known anti-gay televangelists, Edir Macedo, was charged with embezzling $300M from his impoverished followers. Three leading members of one of Brazil's most powerful churches have been accused of laundering millions in church donations and using worshippers' money for personal gain. The charges, unveiled on Monday by São Paulo's public prosecutor, relate to 404m reals (£150m) allegedly obtained from mostly impoverished churchgoers by leaders at Brazil's Universal Church of the Kingdom of God. The money was subsequently channelled out of the country via a network of offshore bank accounts and money changers, federal prosecutors claimed. Among those charged is Bishop Edir Macedo, a controversial televangelist who founded the church in 1977, and his financial director, Alba Maria Silva da Costa.Prosecutors says the actual amount funneled to offshore accounts could exceed $1 billion. Macedo is known for fiery condemnations of homosexuals and for his promise that donations to his ministry will be "returned ten-fold by Jesus." His church reportedly has eight million members worldwide.

Some other site owners are quietly discussing further changes that will shrink the LGBT online media even more.
Interestingly enough, the sites that seem to be having problems most are those who do original reporting and long-form opinion or analysis pieces while short-form bloggers who clip quotes from other sources and include a basic rewrite of some facts or a witty remark continue to grow readership and attract advertisers. I'd be interested to hear Projectors' thoughts on why the trend is happening and where it'll end.

It can
be difficult to read the tea leaves of which way a judge is thinking of ruling,
but this would be bad news, as it would permit the anti-gay bigots to appeal

California Supreme Court appeared ready Tuesday to rule that the backers of
Proposition 8 and other ballot measures have the right to defend them in court,
a stance that would give opponents of same-sex marriage the chance to champion
the initiative all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court.
During an hour of oral arguments,
several justices appeared skeptical that only elected state officials may
defend measures passed by voters, as gay-rights lawyers claimed.
The seven-member court will decide
within 90 days whether ProtectMarriage, the sponsors of Proposition 8, have the
right to represent the state in litigation. That ruling will clear the way for
the U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals to decide whether ProtectMarriage had
standing to appeal U.S. District Judge Vaughn R. Walker's ruling against the
2008 ballot measure.

In response to a question posed by Chief
Justice Tani Cantil-Sakauye, the attorneys from both sides sparred over whether
or not the state's interest "evaporates" when there is no one to
defend it in court.
Charles
Cooper, attorney for the ballot sponsors, said California specifically allows
voters to directly enact this kind of legislation, and that its official
sponsors should be allowed to step in when the state refuses to defend such
measures. But he was pressed hard by several justices over whether Prop 8
proponents could ultimately prove actual injury if same-sex marriages were allowed
to resume in the state.
However, Theodore Olson, a former
solicitor general in the Bush administration and a leading conservative lawyer,
said only state officials can defend state laws. He is defending a coalition of
same-sex couples and several civil rights groups.
"There is ample authority that
individuals do not have a right to defend a law unless they would suffer a
direct and immediate harm from its invalidation," Olson said. "The
proponents of Proposition 8 will not suffer any harm from a decision that
grants gay and lesbian Californians their fundamental civil right to
marry."
The
defender's of Prop 8 would have one believe it is all about protecting the
voter's rights, but I would argue there is no inherent right to vote on other's
civil rights, period.

The court has a responsibility to enforce the California Constitution, which gives elected state officials--not private initiative sponsors--the authority to decide whether to appeal a federal court decision invalidating a state law. Both conservative and progressive elected officials have occasionally exercised that discretion in the past by choosing not to expend state resources to defend invalidated measures. Permitting special interest groups to usurp that decision-making authority would dramatically change the current law and take a giant step down the road of turning California into a mobocracy."I was disappointed that, with some notable exceptions, too many of the court's questions today did not address the specific legal questions before them, but rather seemed to glorify the initiative process in the abstract and to abdicate a searching examination of the California Constitution in favor of emotional appeals to 'the people.' The initiative process is already frequently misused to target vulnerable groups, due in part to the Court's past reluctance to enforce any meaningful limits on the process, even when those limits are mandated by the California Constitution. Lanna acaba de protagonizar um episódio que abalou as estruturas evangélicasA missionária evangélica Lanna Holder ficou conhecida mundialmente por testemunhar que havia sido curada da homossexualidade. Deu palestras e promoveu o que seria a cura da homossexualidade em igrejas dos quatro cantos do mundo.Lanna acaba de protagonizar um episódio que abalou as estruturas evangélicas.
Ela se apaixonou por uma cantora gospel de renome nos Estados Unidos e se uniu à ela. A notícia de que ela voltou a ser homossexual (como se isso fosse possível) abalou as estruturas de muitas igrejas que ouviram (e acreditaram) em seu primeiro testemunho de cura da homossexualidade. Junta com sua namorada, Lanna inaugurou em São Paulo a Comunidade Cidade de Refúgio, primeira denominação religiosa dirigida por um casal de lésbicas no Brasil. Hoje a missionária reconhece que nunca deixou de sentir atração sexual por mulheres e critica a postura das igrejas que, segundo ela, pregam uma libertação que não existe. Mesmo disposta a não falar mais de sua vida pessoal, já que se diz alvo de represálias de várias instituições evangélicas, ela aceitou receber a JUNIOR em seu escritório. Na ocasião, falou sobre a mentira em que viveu por anos devido à intolerância religiosa.
Antes você afirmava que a homossexualidade era possessão demoniaca e hoje se arrepende da visão que tinha. O que te fez mudar de opinião?
Quanto me converti, fui ensinada que a homossexualidade era uma maldição, então expunha para os fiéis da maneira que eu havia aprendido. Milhares de pessoas me procuravam para saber como eu havia deixado de ser lésbica e no fundo sabia que continuava gostando de mulheres. Eu professava aquela mentira na esperança de que um dia ela pudesse se tornar verdade na minha vida. Realmente lutei porque acreditava que iria mudar. Com o passar dos anos percebi que toda a teoria que eu pregava não surtia efeito em mim e muito menos nas multidões que se apoiavam na minha suposta cura. Resolvi deixar toda aquela vida falsa e mergulhei no estudo da teologia inclusiva, que considera a homossexualidade uma orientação, algo natural, sem nenhuma condenação de Deus.

Essa nova igreja foi criada para desmistificar a postura equivocada dos cristãos e para receber aqueles que querem viver com Deus, mas que não são aceitos por sua condição sexual. Praticamente todos os membros que recebemos, são pessoas rejeitadas por igrejas evangélicas. Aqui os casais gays poderão viver em paz, pregar, cantar e exercer seus dons diante de Deus. Aqui podemos reconhecer que somos gays, somos cristãos e somos felizes. Nos sentimos completamente amados e aceitos por Deus.

Hoje não tenho nenhuma proximidade com os evangélicos e eles não aceitam minha atual condição. Todas as igrejas que no passado me convidavam para pregar não se comunicam mais comigo. Qualquer tipo de aliança foi quebrada porque eles consideram a homossexualidade possessão, maldição hereditária e algumas até mesmo doença. Eles não concordam com a visão que passei a seguir e são completamente opostos ao que estou pregando atualmente. A minha família tem a mesma postura, precisei me desligar deles para viver esse novo ministério.

É inevitável que as vendas diminuam. Aqueles que compravam não compram mais. Como o preconceito da igreja evangélica continua cada vez maior, a primeira atitude deles foi retirar todos os produtos com meu nome de suas livrarias.

Conheci a cantora e pastora Rosania Rocha em Bonton, nos Estados Unidos, na Assembléia de Deus, igreja onde congregávamos. Nós éramos muito conhecidas entre o evangélicos e começamos a nos encontrar em viagens para pregar e cantar, foi quando iniciou o envolvimento. Na época contamos para a liderança da igreja com o objetivo de nos separarmos. Eles reagiram da pior maneira possível, trouxeram o assunto à público e fomos humilhadas por evangélicos no Brasil e nos Estados Unidos. Depois dessa situação, resolvemos nos separar de nossos maridos e nos unir.
