A new Australian pop video ends with two rival team captains kissing on a footy field, and one of them played ten seasons of Australian rules football without ever telling anyone he was bi.
"Can't Wait" is the debut single from the Sydney singer ANDY, and the man in that final scene is Mitch Brown, who in 2025 became the first AFL player to come out publicly as bisexual. Ian Roberts, who came out in 1995 as the first high-profile Australian sportsman to do so, is in it too.
"Honestly, when Ian and Mitch agreed to partner up for this, I was stunned and so taken aback by the fact they said yes," ANDY told Outsports. "As wild and raunchy as this video is, there's a deep-seated message of romance, consent and vulnerability in it."
The set went quiet while they shot it. "I think everyone could feel that we were commenting on something very real, very raw and very beautiful," he said.
Brown, 37, put it in terms of the career he spent watching himself. "I spent so much of my playing career being conscious of what I said, how I behaved and what people might assume about me, and now I'm on a footy field - although a different code - kissing another man for a music video," he told Rolling Stone Australia. "There's a nice full-circle feeling to that."
Roberts watched the finished thing and said something to ANDY that the singer says has stayed with him. "I love being gay - it's my superpower."
