Rep. Linda Sanchez, D-Calif., has introduced legislation that would grant same-sex couples the same Social Security benefits now available to opposite-sex couples. A rally in support of the measure at the U.S. Capitol last week drew support from celebrities, including actor George Takei, who played “Mr. Sulu” in the original “Star Trek” television series.
